A Few Digital Marketing Campaigns that Set the Internet on Fire

How true, isn’t it?? A good advertisement can do wonders if put forward through the right channels. The emergence of digital media has changed the world of advertising in a dramatic way and its rising demand has made the platform the undisputed king among various other channels. Although, every other company has tried its luck on the digital media platform, yet not everyone could make it big. With a perfect blend of innovation and creativity, these companies have come up with some amazing digital marketing campaigns, which have set the internet ablaze. We tried to poke our nose a bit more and find out some of the greatest ad campaigns on the digital media that have gone viral. Though, the list is endless, yet we tried to list down a few campaigns, which have created a lot of buzz.

With their controversial social media campaign inspired by humorous memes, WaterisLife created a lot of hue and cry on the digital media platform. This non-profit organization rang a bell among the masses with their ironic video, which was a compilation of clips of the underprivileged alongside captions of common complaints from the privileged. It was a huge success and received more than one million views on the first day. The ending caption of the video, “First world problems…..aren’t problems” enhanced interest in their Twitter feed, as followers came up with their own captions on the social media pages with the hashtag #firstworldproblems.

With the launch of their new Five Beanz product range, Heinz came up with their innovative social media campaign titled, “Which bean are you?” contest on their Facebook page. As a part of the contest, fans were asked different questions concerning their personality and any participant taking part in the quiz for more than ten times were given a goodie bag. This campaign was one of its kind and has reached more than ten million audience overall.



Lay’s “Do us a flavor” campaign created a lot of buzz in the social media landscape. This potato chips brand asked the consumers to create a new Lay’s potato chip flavor for a chance to win $1 million or 1 percent of the winning chip flavor’s net sale. The campaign generated more than 4 million flavor ideas, out of which Cheesy Garlic Bread was chosen the best, based on consumers’ votes via Facebook, Twitter or texts.

Luxury water brand from Danone, Evian enjoyed a huge success with their 2009’s “Roller Babies” campaign, which found a spot in the Guinness World Records as the most viewed online advertisement ever. It broke all the records and had more than 25 million views in less than two months. The video featured CGI infants doing extreme roller-skating stunts and thus caught a lot of attention across the globe.


The ad campaign titled “Girls don’t poop”, by bathroom spray deodorizer Poo-Pourri has taken bathroom wit to the next level. This hilarious video featuring a young and elegant girl talking about her lavatory behaviors caught attention like a wildfire and received 6 million views in less than a week. It helped the brand to enhance its Facebook fan base by 350 percent.
